A Song of Bush and Trump

Both Bush and Trump are outside the mainstream
For those of you who know me, or have been reading my blog even moderately, by now you should know that I have long held that only a united Conservative front can beat back the Democrats. That means all factions, Libertarian, Conservative (in all variations), and moderates all on board. You may also be aware of my frustration with the Moderate Establishment because they think it’s okay to attack their party’s base voter, then whine when they don’t show up to vote. After several elections in a row where low turnout has cost us the presidency, you would think they would figure out that they need us, but as I read in National Review, instead of trying to get to the bottom of the issues dividing us, they are now blasting us a “WHINOS,” and lamenting the support of the base voter for Donald Trump, instead of their guy, Jeb Bush.

Mitt Romney 2016?

This week in the news, Utah Congressman Jason Chaffetz, one of my favorites, proclaimed that Mitt will run again in 2016, and this time he will win. -1. Some may be surprised to hear me say this, with as angry as I was when we lost in 2012, but it could happen, and Mitt could have my support again, though I am so far quite intrigued by Doctor Ben Carson, but we will discuss him later.

Mitt won’t get an immediate endorsement from me this time though. He got it after Ron Paul was defeated, but this time he is going to need to work harder. You see, unlike the hacks that work in Washington DC, I know the real reason we lost in 2012 had nothing to do with a Democratic block voting Democratic. We lost because 3 million registered Conservative Republicans sat out the elections. It is interesting to analyze this election and learn the following; Romney won with Independents by huge margins. Romney increased the Black Youth vote for Republicans. Romney saw a ten point shift of the Jewish voter toward Republicans. But where he lost was with his own party’s base.

Why I was wrong about Lego: The Movie

The villain looks like Mitt Romney, and is called Lord Business. Michael Moore endorsed the movie as teaching communism. But then my Sifu, Glenn Beck, and my brother all insisted I should see the movie, and all of them are polar opposites from Michael Moore. Something was amiss. Then my niece, who is old enough to be trying to find the middle between Democrats and Republicans (psst; it’s Constitutional Libertarian), insisted I should give the movie a chance, assuring me that it’s not what I think it is.

It’s a blue, blue ocean

Do me a favor, if you like this please pass it along. There’s a great deal of infighting in the GOP and we must do all we can to lay it to rest and get everyone fighting the real opponents, which is not each other, but a Democratic party bound and determined to change us rather than Washington DC. The solution to the GOP’s problem is pretty simple from my perspective, I just wonder if the leadership of our party is just too old and jaded to see it. We need people to start looking outside the box and our reluctance to look for answers outside the same group of people who lost us the McCain race and now the Romney race with their focus on moderating the party which clearly isn’t working, we’ve done it twice now and it’s not working. The one race where we let the base do it it’s way was the 2010 race, and yes Sharon Angel and Christine O’Donnell lost but the reality is that in 2010 the GOP promised the world something different from the Bush/McCain years and guess what, all in all we won, so when outside the box thinking prevailed we did pretty well.

What went wrong?

Barack Obama is not popular. With the economy as bad off as it is he should have been pretty easy to defeat, and the wind seemed to be at our backs but much to our horror election night went down with the GOP on a national level in defeat. On an individual state basis though we actually shored up some pretty significant wins but that will be another blog. It is a tradition of the GOP to tear itself apart 24-7 anyway, but things get worse upon losing a major election.

The truth about the truth about Obama's Rose Garden speech (Yes that was deliberate)

Round 2: FIGHT!

The media wanted a feistier Obama and the got it with the help of tonight’s sham moderator of course. Whether you think Obama won or Romney depends on if you think that Romney's ceding to the moderator’s erroneous claim that Obama did declare Bengasi an act of terror, "if only you'd read the transcript" was the bigger deal or if Obama's stating he believes higher gas prices were a sign of economic recovery was. For me it ought to be the latter rather than the former as comments like this reveal a stunning cluelessness about how the economy works. Once again Democrats prove their loyalty to the failed ideas of John Maynard Keynes. High prices do not lead to shared prosperity. On that note, please pay attention to an interesting phenomenon, when Romney leads in the polls gas prices start to slip, when Obama does they start to go up again. Might be coincidence, but then again Obama did say he felt electricity rates should "necessarily skyrocket" under his plan so there you go...

Frustrating Polls In Spite of Poor Economic Reports

Obama running against things no one is suggesting
Clinton gave a good speech, or so I heard. I cannot stand the Democrats any more, they are so extreme any one of them start talking and I tune out. Democrats too often jump immediately to “hate “and “racist” that it becomes hard to have a serious policy discussion. From what I hear Clinton broke that mold and did give a policy discussion, one that has a lot of pundits on the right worried, not because he was right, but because no one will fact check his numbers, which apparently need to be fact checked as he counts money used for Obamacare as though it could be used for Medicare at the same time creating a huge flaw in his math. You cannot spend the same dollar twice. I'm an artist not a mathematician, but double checking any politician's math regardless of party seems like common sense to me.

Gary “Baldrick” Johnson: Spoiler alert: He loses

Libertarian Candidate Gary Johnson
We have a very short amount of time ahead of us in which things can either be turned around and our country gets back on the right track, or slowed down enough to give us more time to work within the GOP to try and make the necessary changes to allow us to turn this ship around before it’s too late. I happen to agree that a surface glimpse of Romney’s record leaves much to be desired, so too did Reagan’s track record as governor of California, and for that matter Calvin Coolidge had signed on to the Progressive movement before jumping off that band wagon later in his career. That said the profound transformation of Calvin Coolidge and Ronald Reagan should be an historical precedence that just because someone did dumb things earlier in their career does not mean they will be bad presidents.

Obamacare is Obamatax, and fighting amongst ourselves won’t change it.

I was stunned and must admit had an adverse reaction to the Supreme Courts ruling, and I was especially appalled at Chief Justice Roberts whose stunning ruling that Obamacare could remain intact as a tax was quite unexpected... He's a Bush appointee. I did not respond well to that news. I have always tried to be civil, I failed in my response calling a few choice names for which I must apologize. I am also angry with the tepid response some of the leaders of our party have given when we rely upon them to shield us from this nonsense. So I will apologize for any hurt feelings I may have caused, ask for your forgiveness where appropriate and strive to do better going forward. Outbursts from me are few and far between, I am usually much better than that and for those who follow me on Facebook you all deserve better, but my appeal to all the factions is this; at the end of the day trying to purge one another from the party will yield nothing.

Obama’s Dictate leaves legal immigrants in the cold

I come to the immigration debate with a unique experience. As the son of a legal immigrant on the maternal side and a family who is on the paternal side fairly new to this great country I have a great deal of love and admiration for those brave souls who take that hard leap to leave their homeland in search of something better. However, being from a family on both sides who have abided by the law every step of the way I am a firm advocate of simplifying the process. I have an aunt who voted for the very first time in 2008 (as a Republican which made me happy). In no way am I opposed to immigration or immigrants, but is what Obama is doing the right thing to do for the country? While I am starting to back off the use of the term Libertarian lately I do find myself in agreement with Milton Friedman in principal. Friedman tended to agree that so long as illegal immigrants didn’t qualify for welfare they should be welcomed with open arms. The problem is… they do, and the number of illegals on welfare may be debatable but that it is happening is a serious problem. See I don’t mind that people want to come here in search of a better life, I do mind when it’s tax payer subsidized, and worse encouraged solely for political purposed. Democrats want their votes you see, what you didn’t think they actually cared about the plight of the illegal immigrant?

Is it time for a national caucus?

Obama is massively ahead, even in the polls I trust. It’s hard to imagine because he has been the worst president of my life time, brutally partisan and blatantly dishonest. This guy has gotten everything he has wanted even with a GOP controlled House. The House picks a fight, but inevitably yields. Obama has in four years added five trillion to the deficit, when Bust did that in an eight year time frame Obama questioned Bush’s patriotism… Ironically I agreed with Obama back then, but now he has made things so much worse, but fear of another 1994 has kept the Republicans in check, and being in check will likely create another 1994 as the mood of the public is different now than it was then. We put our trust in the Tea Party to stop Obama’s reckless spending and their fear of Obama overwhelmed them and they did nothing to stop this train wreck.
